VR Therapy Treatment

During my time at OxfordVR, they pioneered using VR as a way to conduct psychological therapy treatments, including for fear of heights, social anxiety and psychosis. Read more about the history and background behind OxfordVR here.

As part of the development team I was responsibly for working with the clinical psychologists, design team and programmers to create immersive environments for these treatments, taking into consideration the comfort and accessibility for patients.

We worked on a treatment that would help patients who suffered from psychosis by putting automated VR therapy treatment into a clinical trial for NHS mental health services. We developed an experience where users would be greeted by a virtual therapist who would guide them through everyday tasks.

Fear of Heights
This treatment for acrophobia guided users through the 11 floors of a large shopping mall, starting them with simple tasks at the edge of a platform overlooking the open space, that would become increasingly more high stakes as they went up each floor.
